Hi Friends,
I’ve had an ElecTrak E15 electric lawn tractor for a couple of years now. I was fortunate enough that it came with a plow. It’s great to have some equipment like this for snowy Wisconsin winters. (This is a VERY weird “El Nino” year, so we haven’t even had any snow yet!)
Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to get the blade to lock in place from its side to side positions. The metal block that is supposed to lock into a notch and make the blade keep its angle doesn’t seem to work. It just does NOT go into the notch very far. I can manually pull the lever as hard as I can to get the block into the notch, and it really doesn’t seem to go any further.
Additionally, I really can’t tell what holds that aluminum block in place. It appears to be held in place by the lever going through the hole on the top side, and a rolled pin going through it on the bottom.
One person suggested that perhaps the spring pulling on the block is stretched, but when I try to push the block in the direction of the spring, it doesn’t seem to make any difference.
Has anyone run into this problem with their ElecTrak plow blade? How do I fix it? All advice and help is appreciated!
Here’s some photos.
Thanks!
-Ben
EDIT 12/21/2015
I was finally able to remove the cable and after that, the spring. The spring is indeed stretched, and the cable was also preventing the block from fully engaging in the notch. I’m going to visit the hardware store to see if I can find a similar spring. If I can’t figure out what was keeping the cable, I may just leave it disconnected. I don’t need to change the angle of the blade often, so it wouldn’t be that big of a deal if I had to manually release it.
